Effect of potassium carbonate on catalytic synthesis of calcium carbide at moderate temperature

Dejun SHI, Ke QIAO, Zifeng YAN

Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering 2011, Volume 5, Issue 3,   Pages 372-375 doi: 10.1007/s11705-010-0570-1

Abstract: Calcium carbide was successfully synthesized by carbothermal reduction of lime with coke at 1973 K for 1.5 h. The effect of potassium carbonate as additive on the composition and morphology of the product was investigated using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscope. Addition of potassium carbonate increased the yield of calcium carbide. The sample in the presence of potassium carbonate generated acetylene gas of 168.3 L/kg, which was 10% higher than that in the absence of potassium carbonate. This result confirmed the catalytic effect of potassium carbonate on the synthesis of calcium carbide. A possible mechanism of the above effects was that the additive, which was melted at the reduction temperature, dissolved CaO and so promoted the contact between CaO and carbon, which was essential for the solid-solid reaction to form calcium carbide.

Strategic Study of CAE 2017, Volume 19, Issue 4,   Pages 54-59 doi: 10.15302/J-SSCAE-2017.04.009

Abstract:

In order to evaluate China's level of ecological civilization, a set of indicators was established according to the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the goal of ecological civilization construction in China. Using the double-benchmark progressive method and taking a city as an evaluated unit, this study examines the level of ecological civilization of three typical urban agglomerations: Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (Jingjinji), the Yangtze River Delta, and the Pearl River Delta. The results indicate that the ecological civilization level of the Pearl River Delta ranks highest (69.95) and the ecological civilization level of Jingjinji ranks lowest (59.04). Green environmental field is the shortcoming of the three urban agglomerations' EC level. The urban EC level evaluation data shows the shortcomings of the EC, and designate the direction for the EC development level.

Numerical simulation of blasting effect with divided charge structure

Hu Tao ,Li Xianglong,Guan Si ,He Lihua

Strategic Study of CAE 2014, Volume 16, Issue 11,   Pages 36-41

Abstract:

This paper numerically simulates the stress development and generates a three-dimensional model of the medium-deep hole blasting in infinite rock mass for continuous charge and divided charge in blasting by using the large-scale nonlinear dynamic analysis software LS-DYNA and the elastic-plastic model *MAT_PLASTIC_KINEMATIC and JWO-EOS. The difference of the decreasing rate in Von Mises effective stress of blasting, element effective stress peak in free face, the bore wall stress and acceleration are investigated. It is shown that divided charge could greatly improve the blasting effect by engineering blasting practice.
